In the Book of Galatians, Apostle Paul exhorts the Body of Christ towards maturity. In Galatians 5, He makes several profound statements about living in the Spirit versus walking in the Spirit. From these teachings, we come to see that there is in fact a difference between living in the Spirit or being alive in the Spirit and walking in the Spirit or being led by the Spirit.
The Ministry of the Holy Spirit
Jesus promised that the Father would send us the Holy Spirit so He could abide with us forever. That promise was fulfilled when the 120 disciples were gloriously baptized in the Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Since then, the Ministry of the Holy Spirit has spanned the entire world, across all nations and cultures from that generation to this.
The Person of the Holy Spirit
Our understanding of the person and Ministry of the Holy Spirit is integral to our having a successful Christian walk. Jesus, before the end of His Ministry said He would send us another comforter to abide with us forever. This meant He would send the Holy Spirit to us in the same capacity He operated in while on earth.
Now that you are Born Again
The Born Again experience is amazing; that moment when we chose to believe God’s Word and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is truly wonderful. This act of Faith delivers us from the power of darkness and translates us into the Kingdom of God’s dear son; Jesus Christ. This is what it means to be born again.
The Issue of Temptation
The issue of temptation is one that dates as far back as the Garden of Eden. In Genesis 3, we see how the devil stirred up in Adam and Eve the desire to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Through temptation, the devil convinced them to desire what God had said would kill them. This desire, once within their hearts led to their disobedience, which led to sin, which separated them from God.
The Blessings of Serving God
As born again, Spirit filled believers, serving God should be a pleasure. God wants us to serve him; not out of obligation or necessity but with delight. This is so important to God that at His ascension, Jesus told the disciples that they would be empowered to be witnesses of Jesus after receiving the Holy Spirit. What Jesus meant was that the Holy Spirit would empower us to serve God.
How to hear the Voice of God
Being able to hear the voice of God is one of the many blessings available to us as children of God. Jesus Christ didn’t come to redeem us from sin alone. The salvation He purchased also grants us access to fellowship with God.
The Gifts and Calling of God
God loves us dearly. His love for us is so great that it cannot be quantified. He showed us this love by giving Jesus Christ as the perfect sacrifice to redeem us back to Him. He has also shown His love through the gifts and calling of God we each have over our lives.
How Guilt and Shame paralyze Believers
God created us for a specific purpose. Knowing that purpose is vital to being able to pursue and fulfill it. Sometimes however, we may become hesitant in the pursuit of what we know God has asked us to do because of guilt and shame.
What to do if you sin
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to the world primarily to redeem man from sin. This free gift of redemption is available to all who believe Jesus came, died and rose again. Redemption gives life to our spirits, sets us free from the bondage of sin and grants us access to fellowship with God. However, there is the question of what to do if you sin. What should you do if as a born again, Spirit filled believer, you sin?
