The Healing Jesus

Posted by davidluiz in Poems

Multitudes upon multitudes stood before him.
From his vantage point on top of the mountain,
He could get a good glimpse of the lost sheep of Israel.
His eyes were red shot, as though from excess of wine,
His voice billowed as though it were thunder.
He taught the people as one with authority
Yet he was gentle enough to touch each of them
With his healing hands.

He reached for her hands
With a tenderness unusual for a man of his stature.
She had grown weak over the last few weeks
Because of a debilitating bone disease.
Now confined to a bed,
The doctors had condemned her to death
But there she lay in the open field,
Brought by her husband to a Jesus crusade;
Her last and only hope.
His face was graced with unmistakable compassion,
The tears in his eyes, though unusual, were genuine,
And showed he was aware of her acute pain and terminal condition.
Her hands reached for his,
“I know I will yet rise
When his hand touches mine…
”

His eyes were glassy,
He stood motionless as though he were a statue
Or human figurine.
“Come out of him!” was the stern command.
Though deaf and dumb,
He fell to the ground shaking like a snake.
The multitude that observed knew that
An intense battle was being waged for the young man’s sake.
The shaking ceased as he let out an agonizing scream.
He lay still,
With dilated eyes and a foaming mouth;
Signs that the anguish had taken his life.
The crowd began to disperse as Jesus bent low
And reached for his hands…

The date was May, 2008,
The preacher cried with unflinching faith:
“Tonight, Jesus is here and will deliver you from your sorrowful fate!”
The arena was packed with thousands of the sick and dying,
Many would be gone by morning if Jesus did nothing.
The preacher lifted his hands and closed his eyes,
He talked to the Jesus that did it many years before him
And thanked him in anticipation
For the miracles and healings…

The multitude rejoiced in awe and wonder,
The woman with the bone disease was running uphill yonder!
The deaf and dumb was not only alive and well,
He was standing with hands lifted, praising the Lord.
The auditorium went wild
As person after person testified of their miraculous healings;
Jesus had healed the blind and dumb,
The lame and deaf,
The cancer victim and the one condemned to die.
Each had reached out in faith,
Believing Jesus could do it,
They had acted to prove their faith
And had received their healing.

The healing Jesus of those days is still in the business today,
If you will believe he can do it
And act based on what you believe,
You will join the multitudes through history
Who have known in all certainty that
Our Jesus Christ is a healing Jesus.

About Us

Our vision as a ministry is to open the eyes of all Men through the Word of God to see Jesus in the brightness of his glory, so they can be changed to be like him.
